New Bhopal Collector Priyank Mishra Takes Charge.......
Today, Mishra addressed the media in his first press interaction, outlining his vision for transparent, data-driven governance. Emphasizing the upcoming Census 2027, he stated, “Census is not a race,” stressing that accuracy and reliability must take precedence over speed. “Correct data is paramount. Policies built on flawed information can misguide development,” he added. He noted that the digital phase of the census has begun and cautioned against any compromise on data quality, urging meticulous preparation for this vital national exercise.
Mishra highlighted key priorities for his tenure. He announced a comprehensive review of encroachments on the iconic Bhoj Wetland (Upper Lake), describing it as the “pride of Bhopal” and promising systematic, well-planned conservation measures. The school education system is also under scrutiny, with focus on timely distribution of books and uniforms, and addressing complaints of arbitrariness in private schools. He assured corrective steps following stakeholder consultations.
When asked by Jahnvi News about revenue department pendency arising from staff involvement in the recent Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and the upcoming Census, Collector Priyank Mishra expressed pride in the department’s reputation. “It is a matter of great pride that national agencies like the Election Commission continue to repose faith in our department. We have delivered successfully during the SIR and will do so again for the Census,” he said. Mishra assured that the administration would soon devise effective strategies to clear the pendency while ensuring both exercises are handled with efficiency and public satisfaction.
The new Collector reiterated his commitment to ensuring maximum benefits of government schemes reach the public swiftly. Law and order, along with broader civic issues, will be tackled through data-driven strategies. Soon after assuming charge, Mishra visited Bairagarh tehsil to inspect records, signaling an action-oriented approach from day one.
Officials and local communities have welcomed Mishra, known for his dedication and result-oriented style during his stint in Dhar. His appointment comes amid a major transfer of 26 IAS officers in Madhya Pradesh, aimed at strengthening administration ahead of key exercises like the census.
With Bhopal poised for continued development, Mishra’s emphasis on precision, environmental protection, and efficient service delivery has raised expectations among residents for a responsive and proactive administration.
