Madhya Pradesh Wrestlers Migrating to Haryana for Government Jobs-Kailash Vijayvargiya.......

Senior Madhya Pradesh minister Kailash Vijayvargiya told the state assembly on Monday that talented wrestlers from the state are leaving to represent Haryana and other states because they get assured government jobs there.

The issue came up during Question Hour when BJP MLA from Neemuch, Dilip Singh Parihar, asked Sports Minister Vishwas Sarang why Madhya Pradesh does not give extra marks or job benefits to sportspersons the way several other states do.

Parihar pointed out that states like Haryana, Punjab, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Delhi give 5 to 10 bonus marks in government job exams even to national and university-level players. In Madhya Pradesh, only medal winners at big events get major help. Because of this gap, he said, many players face money problems and struggle to continue their sport.

Speaking from the treasury benches, Urban Administration Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya strongly supported the demand. “This is a very valid question,” he said. “Our wrestlers train in Madhya Pradesh academies using state facilities and resources. But as soon as they show promise, they switch to Haryana or other states because those governments promise them jobs.”

Vijayvargiya’s remark highlighted a long-standing complaint that Madhya Pradesh loses its best talent to states with better sports employment policies. Haryana, in particular, is known for giving police, railway, and other government jobs to top wrestlers, which has helped it dominate national wrestling.

The discussion has renewed calls for the Madhya Pradesh government to bring a new sports policy that gives job priority and exam benefits to all national-level players, not just medal winners.
