Israeli airstrike kills Al Jazeera journalist in Gaza.......

Al Jazeera journalist Anas al-Sharif and four of his colleagues were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a tent housing journalists outside Gaza City’s al-Shifa hospital, the Qatari broadcaster confirmed. The strike, which occurred on Sunday, also claimed the lives of journalist Mohammed Qreiqeh and cameramen Ibrahim Zaher, Moamen Aliwa, and Mohammed Noufal. Al Jazeera described the attack as "apparently targeted," condemning the killing of its staff. The 28-year-old al-Sharif, a well-known correspondent for Al Jazeera Arabic, had been extensively reporting from northern Gaza during the conflict.

However, the Israeli military issued a statement alleging that al-Sharif was not just a journalist but also the leader of a Hamas cell, accusing him of orchestrating rocket attacks against Israeli civilians and troops. The military provided no immediate evidence to support its claim. The incident has drawn sharp criticism from press freedom advocates, who have repeatedly raised concerns over the high number of journalists killed in Gaza since the war began. According to reports, over 100 media workers have died in the conflict, many in Israeli strikes.

Al Jazeera vowed to hold those responsible accountable, calling the attack a "blatant violation of international law." The strike comes amid escalating violence in Gaza, where Israeli forces continue operations in and around medical facilities, including al-Shifa hospital, which has been a focal point of the offensive. The ongoing war has resulted in heavy casualties, with Palestinian authorities reporting thousands dead, including women and children, though exact figures remain disputed.
